Papillon Puppy Jail Fail

We just can’t keep Habbi the Papillon puppy dog behind the gates! Habbi have just joined our family and we are attempting to lay down some ground rules of where he’s allowed and where he’s not allowed. Our lovely friend let us borrowed this baby / pet gate to keep them in. Unfortunately we were unable to keep him behind the gates. He just HAS to be next to us. At night time we can see that he is SOOO sleepy and basically is asleep in his soft bed. If we are still in the living room he crawls sleepily and sacrifices to rather sleep on the cold hard floor then his soft bed inside. When he’s asleep I’ll bring him back to his bed, and 10 minutes later he crawls back out again. And this cycle continues forever.

The Result of Irresponsible Pet Ownership?

This morning, my neighbour’s vicious dog was let loose & it mauled my Mom’s hand when she tried to protect our defenseless puppies because it went after them.

This dog, a Rottweiler mix who has a head & jaws like a Rottweiller, is as tall as an adult male Dobermann & brown in colour has been a menace for 2 years & the whole neighborhood including us fear this dog because it’s totally uncontrollable, very vicious, unpredictable, will always slam against the flimsy main gate, bark & growl at ANYTHING that moves pass its house including vehicles. This dog has not been brought up well, has never been in contact with any other animals, is hardly brought out for walks, always tied & kenneled. Very few times the owners will let it free in the porch.

This morning, we noticed the front gate was left wide open & I thought the owners were walking the dog because they always leave the gate open when they bring the dog out for a toilet break. But I noticed their car was not parked there. But my dogs HAD to go out to do their business so we went & then next minute, I heard something charging behind of me. I turned around & there the dog was, just two feet away, sniffing us & just being curious. Next minute, it lunged towards one of our puppies & my Mom with quick reflex, tried to block it & as the result to doing that, she gets bitten badly. She had 20 stitches to close up her gaping wounds. Thank God, none of her nerves were severed because her hand wound have become paralyzed.

We immediately walked home very calmly while the dog was following behind of us & then immediately called the animal control officers. They came 2-3 hours later & managed to catch the dog. That dog seriously needs to be put down. This is NOT the 1st time it has done it. Last year, it went after one of our neighbour’s Beagle while they walked passed their house & the owner grabbed the dog to protect it & the vicious dog bit his inner thigh. The owners of the vicious dog immediately gave 50 dollars to the boy which actually, does not cover up all the medical fees & the silly owner did not report the owners because he felt pity for them.

My Mom spent 300 dollars for the anesthesia, stitching, tetanus jab & lots of pills. We made a police report against them & I hope they will take action very soon. I want them to be fined & put in jail. Infact, if they can be put down along with the dog, that would be nice.

I don’t understand why people like that would own a dog if they can’t train & control it properly. It is very irresponsible & that dog is a serious threat to the public. The owners are dangerous themselves & I think the reason why they let the dog loose is because they are being chased by loan sharks. Happened before actually. NOT one person is in the house since morning till now in the evening.

We are thinking of suing the owners for the damage their dog has done. But I wonder, how much can we sue him for? Do we just sue him for the medical bills? Apparently one of the owner is a lawyer himself. So can lawyers be sued???
Jess – She’s an Editor & she drives to work everyday. She’s always on the computer the whole day. Now she cant type with one hand. We’ll sue him for that too!!!
Thank you guys for the get well wishes to her. She’s still in a lot of pain but she still managed to walk the dogs this morning. River kept going after her hand because he thinks it’s a toy. I am always there to correct him because we can’t afford him biting it again.

She’s just gone off to work. She still wants to go to work. I hope she will drive there & back home safely. Amazingly, she STILL can type with her injured hand. She did it last evening! The doctor called her an "Iron Woman" because most people would have fainted if these kind of thing happened to them. My Mom told me she started joking, laughing with the doc & singing while her hand was getting stitched. She’s a strong old lady.

The owners of the vicious dog is still not home. I wonder when they will come back. Can you imagine if the dog was still loose today??????

How can i separate my cats from my new dog?

I live in a loft and the only room available to make my new puppies "safe" room would be my mom’s room because my room is separated by a curtain (which would not stop a dog from leaving) but i want my dog’s crate and main trust to be in my own room!

Where can i find like a really tall room divider or pet gate that would keep my doggy in and my cats out, atleast until i have safely introduced them?

A two or 3 foot high divider is something a cat could easily jump over!

if i put my dog into my mom’s room will he form a stronger bond with her and her room? or does the location of his crate not even matter?
The puppy is 8 weeks old and will grow to be about 40-50 lbs. im not worried about the physical condition of either animal. I know they wont really hurt each other but i wanted to take things slowly so neither animal ends up traumatized or scared in his own house!
