My dog is leaving??????????

If you answered or even saw my other question about my dog, then you know who I’m talking about. I have a very sweet dog, and we’ve had him for the past 2 years after my dad rescued him off the highway. We live in the Atlanta suburbs and we have a gated backyard, and he loves to run. A week ago we took him up to my grandparent’s place in the woods in Mississippi, and left him there. He came back yesterday. Now my mom wants to have them take him back to Mississippi, and yes, he has another dog he can play with there, but I’d see him maybe 3 times a year. He’s my baby, and I love him so much I’m not sure I can live without him. My mom is calling me selfish, but 2 other pets of ours have gone up there, and one got run over and the other ran away. I just love him so much, I need him around, I’d just be devastated if he died.
So, I’m asking:
1. Where do you think the dog should go?
2. How do I cope with him leaving?
3. Any other options you see for me?

what's/who's the craziest horse you've ever met/ridden?

so there are many crazy horses. some of them are sweet while others are bad.

you don’t have to read this but here’s my story if you wanna read it:
ok so the craziest horse i’ve ever ridden and met was named cinnamon. i think he was a qh. he was a pony (i think 14.2) except his head was the size of a small/medium horse. it was like so huge and kinda freaky for nothing fit him.. also he was crazy because i’d stand there and pet him calmy and and WOULD NOT like that. he’d get really mad and like not want to be pet. he didn’t like anyone touching him.. i guess he was sensitve. also one time i was sitting there talking to my mom and my trainer and we had a bag of carrots for him right outside the stall… i was watching them but he managed to grab them and chew the carrots/bag/and the little string thing to hold them together. i couldn’t get some of the stuff out but he was very bad. also when i went to put the saddle on him, he would hickup and try and throw his saddle off. he didn’t like his feet picked nor his bit put in. also when i rode him the first few times, he would buck like a crazy horse and with everyone else too.. eventually he calmed down and he was really good on the saddle until the day i was about to buy him. it had been about two weeks and my trainer asked me if i was ready to jump and i said sure so she put a lil pole i tiny bit above the ground and i jumped it like 6 times and then she raised it. on the third time i jumped it and he didn’ t like how i jumped so he took off FULL speed. there wasn’t that much room enough to stop him (cuz the wall was a few feet away….) and he managed to run into the wall and i went flying over the gate… yes that hurt. and so then i got back on and was following behind someone while trotting and so that horse went to go into a canter and leave me behind (she told me so i was ready). so my horse decided that he would stop for a bathroom break (he had to stop and wait to go to the bathroom…) and so after that something i think spooked him and he TOOK OFF FULL SPEED. i mean FULLLLL SPEED as fast as he could go (basically as fast as the horses on the race track…) idk mabye faster but yeah so he took off and i was on him and everyone stopped dead with their mouths hanging open. suprisingly i was still on him and for two times around the ring i had no control what-so-ever and i was trying everything i knew about emergancy stopping but nothing was working so eventually i managed to pull him full speed toward the middle (there were jumps luckily he didn’t jump them) and i made him slow down because there was a large pole in the middle of the ring (a jump but it was taller than him and wider than him) thankfully he stopped and i learned that i shouldn’t buy him and i wanted to ride him more but my trainer and mom said no and i got off and he went bye-bye the next day… that was the end of that horse! oh and did i mention the owner lied about his age? she said he was 8 when he was 19! and he was COMPLETELY CRAZY.. i mean he wasn’t nice in the saddle nor on the ground no matter how kind and gentle i was to him… i’ve even worked with abused scared horses that were crazy and gained their trust but no one could gain his… i tried at least everything i knew but it didn’t work

so what’s your story? doesn’t matter if it’s long i like reading long stories (sorry for my long story btw)
i love horses ABSOLUTLY TO DEATH but i have to say… he was ABSOLUTLY crazy…

The Result of Irresponsible Pet Ownership?

This morning, my neighbour’s vicious dog was let loose & it mauled my Mom’s hand when she tried to protect our defenseless puppies because it went after them.

This dog, a Rottweiler mix who has a head & jaws like a Rottweiller, is as tall as an adult male Dobermann & brown in colour has been a menace for 2 years & the whole neighborhood including us fear this dog because it’s totally uncontrollable, very vicious, unpredictable, will always slam against the flimsy main gate, bark & growl at ANYTHING that moves pass its house including vehicles. This dog has not been brought up well, has never been in contact with any other animals, is hardly brought out for walks, always tied & kenneled. Very few times the owners will let it free in the porch.

This morning, we noticed the front gate was left wide open & I thought the owners were walking the dog because they always leave the gate open when they bring the dog out for a toilet break. But I noticed their car was not parked there. But my dogs HAD to go out to do their business so we went & then next minute, I heard something charging behind of me. I turned around & there the dog was, just two feet away, sniffing us & just being curious. Next minute, it lunged towards one of our puppies & my Mom with quick reflex, tried to block it & as the result to doing that, she gets bitten badly. She had 20 stitches to close up her gaping wounds. Thank God, none of her nerves were severed because her hand wound have become paralyzed.

We immediately walked home very calmly while the dog was following behind of us & then immediately called the animal control officers. They came 2-3 hours later & managed to catch the dog. That dog seriously needs to be put down. This is NOT the 1st time it has done it. Last year, it went after one of our neighbour’s Beagle while they walked passed their house & the owner grabbed the dog to protect it & the vicious dog bit his inner thigh. The owners of the vicious dog immediately gave 50 dollars to the boy which actually, does not cover up all the medical fees & the silly owner did not report the owners because he felt pity for them.

My Mom spent 300 dollars for the anesthesia, stitching, tetanus jab & lots of pills. We made a police report against them & I hope they will take action very soon. I want them to be fined & put in jail. Infact, if they can be put down along with the dog, that would be nice.

I don’t understand why people like that would own a dog if they can’t train & control it properly. It is very irresponsible & that dog is a serious threat to the public. The owners are dangerous themselves & I think the reason why they let the dog loose is because they are being chased by loan sharks. Happened before actually. NOT one person is in the house since morning till now in the evening.

We are thinking of suing the owners for the damage their dog has done. But I wonder, how much can we sue him for? Do we just sue him for the medical bills? Apparently one of the owner is a lawyer himself. So can lawyers be sued???
Jess – She’s an Editor & she drives to work everyday. She’s always on the computer the whole day. Now she cant type with one hand. We’ll sue him for that too!!!
Thank you guys for the get well wishes to her. She’s still in a lot of pain but she still managed to walk the dogs this morning. River kept going after her hand because he thinks it’s a toy. I am always there to correct him because we can’t afford him biting it again.

She’s just gone off to work. She still wants to go to work. I hope she will drive there & back home safely. Amazingly, she STILL can type with her injured hand. She did it last evening! The doctor called her an "Iron Woman" because most people would have fainted if these kind of thing happened to them. My Mom told me she started joking, laughing with the doc & singing while her hand was getting stitched. She’s a strong old lady.

The owners of the vicious dog is still not home. I wonder when they will come back. Can you imagine if the dog was still loose today??????

How can i separate my cats from my new dog?

I live in a loft and the only room available to make my new puppies "safe" room would be my mom’s room because my room is separated by a curtain (which would not stop a dog from leaving) but i want my dog’s crate and main trust to be in my own room!

Where can i find like a really tall room divider or pet gate that would keep my doggy in and my cats out, atleast until i have safely introduced them?

A two or 3 foot high divider is something a cat could easily jump over!

if i put my dog into my mom’s room will he form a stronger bond with her and her room? or does the location of his crate not even matter?
The puppy is 8 weeks old and will grow to be about 40-50 lbs. im not worried about the physical condition of either animal. I know they wont really hurt each other but i wanted to take things slowly so neither animal ends up traumatized or scared in his own house!

How do I stop my kitten from going upstairs?

My mom is allergic to cats and after much pleading she said I could have a kitten if I kept it downstairs. We don’t have a door separating downstairs from upstairs so I just put up a basic pet gate and it worked for the first week. Now the kitten has realized he can climb it and does so regularly. I know they make taller pet gates, but I think the tallest is 41 inches and I’m pretty sure he will be able to jump that eventually. I was thinking of putting something underneath it to make it taller, but I’m not exactly sure how high cats can jump so I don’t know if that would work. Does anyone know of anyway too keep him downstairs without having to build a door?
